The Social Movements Indaba (SMI)
The SMI was a supportive intervention to the Khanya Winter School, to facilitate the coordination of struggles and the unity of the movements, to clarify challenges facing the movements and to build organisations. This also coincided with the support for the World Social Forum (formed in 2002), platforms to unite movements and activists.
Khanya participated with delegations of movements in Porto Alegre (2002), Mumbai (2004) and took a delegation of…..to Kenya in ……2006.
This year’s Winter School focuses on Livelihoods, solidarity and mutual aid and discusses how working people can support each other. This support needs to include material resources (food security, housing et), but also the wellbeing, security and mutual care. It is time for the working class to take charge of its own wellbeing and organize to support each other, that another world is possible! Let us begin again. Arm yourself with knowledge and Organise!
